It has been only about two weeks since the third generation Apple iPhone, the iPhone 3G S, released and reports of the device getting overheated is coming in. Although Apple did not issue any formal statement regarding the problem, it did publish a guideline for its users to keep the phone from being overheated. According to news reports, Apple 3G and Apple 3G S consumers are facing this overheating problem. At this moment, nobody knows what is the real cause.
In their users’ guideline Apple said:
- Users would have to keep the phone between 32 and 95 degree Farenheit. Anything above or below this temperature would cause problem to the
iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S . It would shorten the phone’s battery life or the phone stop working temporarily. The phone also stops charging and display dims.
- The phone gives out warning signal if the battery overheats. In that case, users would have to stop working with the phone and let it cool down. However, they can make emergency calls. If the user is running multiple applications at the same time, the phone might overheat quickly.
- The phone should be kept in a place where the temperature is between minus -4 and 113 degrees. It should not be kept inside the car or directly under the sun. In those conditions, if users run certain applications, they would cause the phone to overheat.
Interestingly, many users who reported to have seen the overheating signals on the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S did not put the phone inside cars or directly under the sunlight which led many people to think that the heating problem might be a technical glitch on the Apple iPhone 3G and Apple iPhone 3G S.
